Rosa Maria – Girl in 507

MusicMatt PikeComment

Rosa Maria are one of those bands that are hard to define. Blending elements of Surf, Psych, Garage & Blues, Rosa Maria create a distinct brand of Rock ‘n’ Roll that is uniquely their own. Combine that with an insatiable lust to entertain and an endless list of new material, Rosa Maria are fast becoming one of the best live bands around.

They’ve just unveiled their new single and film clip ‘Girl in 507’ ahead of the release of their debut album and tour in December.

The single ‘Girl in 507’ is loosely based on the short story ‘A Perfect Day for Bananafish’ by J. D. Salinger, which follows a young couple beset by tragedy. The track oozes with the reverbed vibes of 60’s psych laced with something a bit more sinister.

The song has already received praise from Garage Rock veterans Los Tones who remark, "There's no one out there that can grapple a style and seize attention in the same way like Rosa Maria - a dynamically perfect song."

The clip itself is a callback to American TV variety shows of the 50’s and 60’s with a contemporary twist. It was recorded in a day by Tom Atkins and Josh Martin. This year has seen Rosa Maria play with some of the country’s wildest acts including The Murlocs, The Pinheads & The Delta Riggs and they recently performed to a full house at the King Street Crawl.
